Ever feel like you're shouting into the void with your creative or heartfelt expression, only to be met with crickets or confused stares? Yeah, been there, done that. It's like speaking a language only you understand, and when others don't vibe with it, it can be a real bummer. At times, it can make you wonder why you bother pouring your heart out in the first place. This blog is dedicated to reigniting motivation, focusing on rediscovering your 'why,' and choosing resilience over conformity.

Authentically expressing ourselves demands courage, as it often involves sharing deeply personal thoughts, experiences, and/or emotions. When met with silence or misunderstanding, resilience truly becomes our anchor, reconnecting us with our purpose. It's about bouncing back, finding our footing again, even when things feel a bit shaky. And it's about tapping into that inner strength and remembering why we started in the first place.

Take the pursuit of creativity, for example. It's not about making bank, climbing the ladder, or impressing the crowd. It's about the journey, the process of bringing something to life. Each step you take, each move you make, it's all got its own kind of magic. When someone appreciates your work, you can express genuine gratitude. But if no one acknowledges it, that's perfectly fine. You've danced, savored the moment, and that, in itself, is the greatest reward.

Instead of being disheartened by moments of silence, recognize the transformative power in your expressions. Stay true to your authenticity and embrace self-reflection. While you may not achieve recognition, wealth, or society's conventional definition of success, consider that these external markers may also lead to an inner loss of self. What's the use of having 'everything' if you lose sight of who you are?

"Wishing so hard to be recognised will lead to a life of following expectations held by other people who want you to be ‘this kind of person’. In other words, you throw away who you really are and live other people’s lives," writes Ichiro Kishimi in the book The Courage To Be Disliked.

Your work should have intrinsic importance, bringing joy in itself. It should not be done for recognition, but because you revel in the act of being creative or vulnerable. Love the work for its sake, not for the accolades.

Community and Resilience: The Power of Mutual Growth

When you're feeling down and out, having a crew of like-minded people can make all the difference. These are the people who aren't necessarily there to give you praise but simply to remind you to keep up your courage, because they understand the path you've chosen to walk and want to see you thrive.

Personally, I've experienced the challenges of finding one's tribe. I have always known 'they' are out there, but my work predominantly revolves around the digital realm, and my frequent travels have left me without a fixed home base. So, if this resonates with you, I extend a warm invitation to connect with me on Instagram or through the contact page on this website. I'm excited to welcome you into the online and offline community I'm nurturing; and together we can resiliently dance through life's challenges :)

Much love,

Stefanie
